MORRISTOWN - The Morristown Board will discuss whether to hire a Rochester-based environmental consulting and planning firm to assist the town in wind energy negotiations on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

According to LaBella engineer Richard VenVertloh, the firm "focuses on supporting New York municipalities and agencies in the planning, review, and environmental monitoring of wind energy facilities."

LaBella has been involved in over a dozen commercial wind energy-related projects across the state, Mr. VenVertloh said.

Morristown Town Supervisor Frank L. Putman says the presentation does not mean that the town will use the consulting firm.

"They haven't been hired," he said. "This is for informational purposes only at this time."

Other resolutions on the board's agenda include support for the 2010 Census, the "Rooftop Highway," the county Hold Harmless program, and the efforts to keep the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility open.

"We've received several correspondences requesting our support on this," Mr. Putman said of the prison efforts. "It's definitely something that has far reaching implications."

An update is also expected from Engineer Karl Bender on the scaled down plans for the proposed new town hall project.
