Ogdensburg Man Faces 2nd Harassment Charge In Court
An Ogdensburg man already facing harassment and petit larceny charges from two months ago was in city court Wednesday for another offense.
Robert P. Purser, 20, of 413 Main St., was charged Monday by Ogdensburg police with second-degree aggravated harassment. According to city court records, he made a threatening telephone call to Lynn M. Meashaw, of 1105 Scotch Settlement Road, Gouverneur.
Judge George E. Silver released Mr. Purser to the supervision of probation and adjourned his case to March 23. He will seek legal representation from the St. Lawrence County Public Defender's Office. The judge also issued an order of protection for Miss Meashaw.
Judge Silver also set March 23 as the date when Mr. Purser will answer to the previous charges against him. On Jan. 25, he was charged by city police with second-degree harassment. He allegedly slapped Duane G. Charland, 44, of 1623 Ford St., Ogdensburg, in the face several times.
The third charge against Mr. Purser is petit larceny. On Jan. 11, he allegedly took a $4.95 tire plug kit from Wal-Mart, 3000, Ford St. Extension, without paying for it.
In other cases before Judge Silver on Wednesday:
*Kenneth R. Duvall, 30, of 231 McFadden Road, Lisbon, pleaded not guilty to charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree assault. The charges stemmed from a fight last Oct. 10 at DaVinci's, 1301 Ford St., with Pasquale S. Brancatella, 44, of Theresa, who was charged Tuesday with second-degree attempted assault of Mr. Duvall.
Both men pleaded not guilty, were released to the supervision of probation, issued orders of protection and had their cases adjourned to March 9. They will seek legal representation from the public defender's office.
*Arthur J. Parmeter Jr., 41, of 136 Nelson Road, Ogdensburg, was adjourned to March 16 to answer a Feb. 21 charge of fourth-degree stalking. He was released to the supervision of probation and will request legal counsel from the public defender's office.
Also before Judge Silver on Tuesday;
*Matthew M. Wood, 26, of 328 Morris St., Ogdensburg, pleaded to guilty to two counts of disorderly conduct to satisfy charges of petit larceny and endangering the welfare of child from last October. He allegedly gave beer to two minors at his home. He was given a one-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay $220 in fines and surcharges. He was represented by the public defender's office.
*Rose M. Miller, 21, of 343 Belmont Courts, requested a reduction of a Jan. 1 charge of second-degree harassment stemming from a domestic incident involving her husband.
Her case was adjourned to April 6.
*Eric W. Mallory, 24, of 512 Main St., pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired to satisfy Sept. 5, 2009, charges of operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of .08 percent of 1 percent, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and a flashing red light violation.
He was fined and surcharged a total of $755, had his driver's license suspended for 90 days and was ordered to enroll in a Drinking Driver Program.
He was also given a conditional discharge pending continuation of treatment. He was represented by the public defender's office.
*Donald Brothers, 60, a patient at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, was granted a non-jury trial for a Jan. 5 charge of third-degree assault. He allegedly punched a center employee in the face in the medication room at the Trinity Building.
Mr. Brothers is represented by the public defender's office.
