Police: Man Struck Kids
FRIDAY, MARCH 5, 2010
POTSDAM - Village police charged a Potsdam man Thursday with felony assault for allegedly hitting his fiance's children on two separate occasions this week.
Earlier in the week, Don M. Anson, 25, punched a five-year-old child in the eye, causing it to bruise, police said.
The second incident happened Thursday when Mr. Anson hit a 4-year-old in the lower back with a belt, causing a large welt and scrape, police said.
Police said their investigation began when they received a call Thursday from Child Protective Services reporting the allegation. Police charged Mr. Anson with two counts of second-degree assault.
He was arraigned in Potsdam Village Court and released under the supervision of the St. Lawrence County Probation Department.
