LISBON - Two minutes and 30 seconds. Not a lot of time to impress a panel of three judges who are judging a cheerleading unit in several categories with the maximum score of 100 allowed by each judge.

But Cheerleaders are used to the pressure of using every second.

Lisbon Central School's Third Annual Cheerleading Competition was held on Friday night and the intricate scoring was based on: Fundamental Skills - Partner Stunts, Pyramids, and Basket Tosses (15 points), Motion and Dance (15 points), Jumps (10 points), and Tumbling (10 points); Routine Execution - Voice Projection and Energy (10 points), Expression and Showmanship (10 points), Formation and Spacing (10 points); and Overall Effect - Crowd Appeal and Interaction (10 points) and Routine Difficulty (10 points).

Malone and Lisbon made it 2-for-2 on the season winning the Varsity A and Varsity B titles.

The 20-member Huskies unit recorded a score of 212 on the evening under the direction of Karen Johnson with team members Jessica Armstrong, Melissa Bannon, Olivia Dame, Vanessa Fiore, Emma Fitzgerald, Chelsea Helms, Emily Hewitt, Brooke Johnson, Keely Lamica, Kia Lamica, Laura Pelkey, Dakota Pond, Natalie Printup, Katelyn Rule, Christina Sanchez, Jessica Seaman, Brooke Stark, Haley Stark, Maureen Tatro, and Haleigh Lunan.

Gouverneur recorded 194 points for second place under first year coach Joni Hoover followed by OFA with 175.5 points.

Lisbon earned its second straight Varsity B title with a 205.5-203 victory over an improved Edwards-Knox team which won the Sportsmanship Award.

"We didn't do as well in points as we did at the OFA competition but we had a different panel of judges who look for different things. However, we improved in some of the areas from the last competition and we're looking real forward to the SUNY Potsdam competition on March 21," said LCS Coach Beth Hooper who is assisted by Jordan Woodside. Members of the team include: Emily Hunter, David Mendez, Tori Addison, Megan Barney, Elaini Compo, Jordyn Curtis, Shelby Dishaw, Chelsea Duprey, McKenzie Fields, Alyshia Murray, Nicole Neadom, and Joslyn Spearance.

Clifton Fine finished with 165 points while Edwards-Knox earned fourth place and the Sportsmanship Award.

Coach Jackie Pinkerton's OFA JV team of Sarah Barr, Terri Breen, Lanie Massia, Shelby Measheaw, Brittney O'Grady, Gretchen Paige and Janise Stark went unopposed at the event. They were evaluated by the judges but no score was compiled.
