Frances M. Stevenson

Funeral services for Frances M. Stevenson, 87, of Winter Park, Florida and formerly of Canton will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 1:00pm at the OâLeary Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Douglas Lucia of St. Maryâs Church, Officiating. Burial will be in St. Maryâs Cemetery. Mrs. Stevenson passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010 in Florida.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 11:00am until the time of the service. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Pyrites Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving Frances are three sons, James M. of Winter Park, FL; William and David both of Canton; a daughter Sheila Stevenson of Glassboro, NJ; four grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A brother Joseph Scarfone and sisters, Margaret Rycroft and Josephine Difranco predecease her.

Born January 23, 1923 in Pyrites, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Surace) Scarfone. She graduated from Pyrites Schools. She worked for the A&P, the Grand Union and at Dominic Bendettos General Store; she was a cook at the St. Lawrence Golf Course and the Beta House at SLU for about 18 years, retiring in the mid 1980âs. She married Grant Stevenson; he predeceased her December 19, 1999.

Mrs. Stevenson was a communicant of St. Maryâs Church in Canton and a former member of the St. Paulâs Altar and Rosary Society.
