Hammond Man Faces DWI, Criminal Mischief Charges
MORRISTOWN - A 38-year old Hammond man faces multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated, after a Sunday domestic incident at his residence.
Ogdensburg-based state police arrested John Wayne Johnston, of 101 Oak Point Road, Hammond, charging him for DWI, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree imprisonment.
According to state police, Mr. Johnston allegedly physically prevented a female victim from using a telephone or leaving during a verbal altercation at his Hammond residence. The victim eventually left the scene, state police say, and was followed by Mr. Johnston to a separate residence in the town of Morristown, where Mr. Johnston was arrested.
He was arraigned in the town of Hammond Court and remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, on $2,000 cash bail or $5,000 bond. He is to reappear in Hammond court on Thursday.
