Gloria G. Halliday

POTSDAM - Gloria G. Halliday, 87, of May Road, Potsdam, N.Y., died peacefully at United Helpers Maplewood Campus in Canton, N.Y. on Saturday, July 24, 2010. She was married to Robert H. Halliday, attorney, who died in 1999.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 29, 2010 at St. Mary's Church, Potsdam, N.Y. at 10 a.m. with Monsignor Robert H. Aucoin and Monsignor Harry Snow officiating.

Gloria is survived by her son, Kurt Halliday and his wife, Carol Halliday, Potsdam, N.Y., her son Mark Halliday, Wakefield, R.I., and her grandchildren, James Halliday, Somerville, Mass., Susannah Halliday Eisenbraun, St. Louis, Mo., and Katherine Halliday, Potsdam, N.Y. She is survived by her two sisters, Marilyn Comstock of Sidney, Ohio, and Joan Scopinich of St. Augustine, Fla.

Gloria was born on Oct. 3, 1922 in Ogdensburg, N.Y. to the late Allan and Margaret Gurley, Potsdam, N.Y. Gloria attended St. Lawrence University and graduated from SUNY Potsdam. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Northern New York, and later as a model in New York City.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to United Helpers Maplewood Campus Nursing Home, Canton, N.Y., who provided her the best of care for the past three months.
