City Teen Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Possession
CANTON - An Ogdensburg teen admitted Tuesday in St. Lawrence County Court to possessing child pornography.
Craig R. Grant, 17, of 323 Hamilton St., pleaded guilty before Judge Jerome J. Richards to possessing a sexual performance by a child, a felony. He could be placed on interim probation for one year when he is sentenced Sept. 13.
The plea agreement calls for him to be granted youthful-offender status if he is successful on interim probation. He won't have to register as a sex offender if given youthful-offender status, prosecutors said.
Mr. Grant confessed to possessing about 60 pictures or videos of child pornography. He was continued under probation supervision.
Defense attorney Alexander Lesyk told Judge Richards that federal authorities won't prosecute his client.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and Ogdensburg city police executed a search warrant on July 1 at his home and found the child pornography on his computer, Ogdensburg detectives said.
In other court proceedings, Nicole D. Lazore, 26, Syracuse, pleaded guilty to three-degree criminal possession of marijuana.
She admitted to having about 22 pounds of marijuana when she was stopped Nov. 29, 2008, in the town of Oswegatchie. She is to be sentenced Sept. 13.
Christopher L. Miller, 24, Massena, was resentenced to one to four years in state prison for admitting that he violated his probation conditions. He was convicted in April 2007 on a third-degree rape charge for having sex with a then-15-year-old girl in September 2006. He was classified a Level 1 sex offender, the least likely to reoffend.
Michelle A. Disotell, 34, of 324 Rensselaer Ave., pleaded not guilty to a single count of third-degree welfare fraud, 30 counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing and 24 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
She reportedly collected about $22,800 in day-care, public assistance and food stamps benefits from April 2007 to last August from social services to which she was not entitled.
