Tyrade Needs Online Votes For Chance To Perform Before KISS
RENSSELAER FALLS - A local band watched their dream slip away Monday when they dropped from third to sixth place in an online contest that could place them along side rock legends KISS in Darien Lake.
But it's not too late to help them.
The contest has more than 100 bands battling for votes with the top five ranked bands winning a chance to play in a competition judged by members of KISS. The winner of the contest will open for KISS Aug. 12 in Darien Lake.
Tyrade is a local band consisting of Ronnie A. Simser, Rensselaer Falls; Tim Anson, Trout Lake; Thomas "Tick" Arquette, Russell; and Matt Farrell, Saranac Lake.
Mr. Simser said that while Tyrade's fan-base continues to grow, this contest would really give them a boost in recognition. To friends, fans and supporters of local music, Tyrade is asking for less than a minute of effort to help achieve a once in a life time opportunity.
"It would be 30 seconds of their time to make a difference in our life. Thirty seconds to make us be able to grab a dream," he said noting that being in the top five and falling out has been pretty devastating.
"It's just going to hurt if we're not in the top five because we'll never know if we had a chance to beat the other bands."
Mr. Simser says the band has enjoyed regional success and has even released two full length albums that can be picked up at a variety of stores from Watertown to Plattsburgh.
"We've played just about everywhere in New York State. If you name a city, we've probably played there," Mr. Simser said before running through a list of more than 20 locations.
Tyrade is a metal band that's not too hard or heavy to enjoy, according to Mr. Simser. The band has been around in its current form for approximately four years.
