CANTON - The St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union U14 soccer team will look to bounce back next week in their final two contests following a 5-1 loss to a strong Canton team where the score didn't indicate the play of the contest. The locals host Potsdam on Monday and travel to Massena on Wednesday for their finale.

Last night playing with just 13 players, the locals watched Canton jump out to a 1-0 lead before Natalie Giglio blasted a left footed shot from 22 yards out which found the back of the net off a nice Peyton Lalone center feed. The Bears answered right before the half to take a 2-1 lead at intermission.

Following a quick Canton goal in the second half, the locals controlled the play with several shots and rushes sparked by Giglio, Lalone, Rachael Thornhill, Jed McRoberts, Tristen Moore and Nick Vielhauer.

With the score 3-1 late in the contest, the locals gambled with a four man front and Canton effectively countered with two late goals to seal the contest. Moore and Matt Shollette combined for 15 saves in a busy night in the crease with Courtney Sherwin, Dylan Jock, Al Fisher and Erin Tooley anchoring the defensive play. Hannah Thornhill and Zach Ashley turned in strong two-way play for the locals.
