Heuvelton Earns Home Playoff Game In NC Women's Soccer

The North Country Women's Soccer League regular season ended on Thursday evening and Tuesday's playoff openers are set.

On Thursday, in East play Colton-Parishville downed Akwesasne 7-1, Potsdam McDuff's routed Norwood-Norfolk 8-1 and Potsdam Ton's handled Canton 3-1. In West action, F.C. Freeze topped Edwards-Knox 5-1, Heuvelton received a forfeit over Star Lake and Harrisville claimed a win by forfeit over Ogdensburg.

Heuvelton will host Ogdensburg in a first round playoff game Tuesday.

FC Freeze 5, Edwards 1: Kamrie Dandrow set up Mel Mauer and Rachel Bowdish sparking FC Freeze to a 2-0 lead. After Vanessa Bullock opened the second half with the only Edwards' goal of the game Mauer, Paige Harvey and Abby VanGelden scored for FC Freeze. Second half assists were passed out by: Megan Stevenson, Katherine Polido and Kerri Keegan and supported a three-save win by Alex Weston. Katie Stone fielded six shots in the Edwards goal.

McDuff's 8, Norwood 1: Anita Francis generated three goals and Ginette Cornett scored two goals to lead McDuff's. Wendy Todd, Jess Weathers, and Meagan Emlaw each scored once as Ginette Cornett and Meagan Emlaw shared the crease duties. Katie Smith scored for Norwood.

Ton's 3, Canton 1: Jill Tardeli scored on a penalty kick, Peg Brusso scored her second game-winning goal of the year and Tardelli connected from Elisabeth Bennett for Ton's who received six saves from Liz Durfee in net. Chontelle Wood scored for Canton. Brandi Bessette made 10 saves.

Dow Electric 9, Akwesasne 1: Nikki Perkins generated three goals, Ari Czech and Brooke Enslow each scored two goals and Brooke Waite and Taylor Bonnon each logged a singleton for Dow Electric which clinched the top seed in tyhe playoffs. Steph Collins, Cassidy, and Enslow shared the crease duties
