M-W Girls Progressively Post Shutout In Opener

MADRID - The Madrid-Waddington Girls Soccer team opened up its NAC East League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Colton-Pierrepont on Tuesday.

"We started to play better as the game progressed," said M-W Coach Matt Daley whose team didn't have a preseason tournament before their opener."Shelby MacIntosh and Jenna Cryderman did a great job directing the defense and freshman Taylor Lenny played great with two assists. We've got a big game on Thursday with Chateaugay. That game we'll give us and good read on this team," said Daley.

Katie Marcellus scored from Lenny in the 41st minute. Abigail "Abby" Lanning connected from Lenny in the 64th minute to back goalie Lauren Sharpe (3 saves) in her debut in net. Alex Soucia stopped 14 shots for C-P.

Chateaugay opened in a 2-0 win over Brushton-Moria.

P-H 2, St. Lawrence 0: Megan Evans and Cayla McGregor combined in goal for three saves for the shutout. Michaela Cole scored from Kodi Perkins and Rebecca Remington in the 33rd minute while Emily Sloan connected from Remington and Chelsea Guyette in the 50th minute for the winners.

Amanda Reyome made five saves for the shutout while LaBounty made 14 saves for the Saints.
