Thomas W. Hazeltine
CANTON - Thomas W. Hazeltine, 68, of Canton, NY, and Andover, Vt., passed away on Saturday, September 4th at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vt., after a brief battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born in Rutland, Vt., on August 1, 1942, the son of Clark W. & Elizabeth (Thomas) Hazeltine. Tom graduated from Chester High School in 1960 and Vermont Technical College in 1962.
Tom was a "jack of all trades", but his passion was truck driving, which is the profession he retired from in 2006, when he moved to Colton, NY, to care-take his daughter's farm. Most recently, Tom was working part time for Meals on Wheels of St. Lawrence County, which he enjoyed very much. One of his proudest achievements was to have served as a legislative page boy in 1956. Tom enjoyed hobby farming, riding his bicycle and sightseeing.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Tracy (White), his daughters: Jeanette Haight and Tammie Holloway; his step-children Nathan Hicks and Jennifer Carpenter; his sister Alice Lindquist.
A small family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Meals on Wheels Association of America at www.mowaa.org, or St. Lawrence County Meals on Wheels, 80 SH 310 Suite 7, Canton, NY 13617.
