Johnson Nets Lone Potsdam Goal Vs CU
POTSDAM - The SUNY Potsdam women's soccer (3-1) team allowed a pair of second-half goals, suffering a 3-1 loss at Clarkson Thursday.
The Golden Knights (2-2) broke a 1-1 tie early in the second half and scored in the 61st minute on a corner kick for the second time in the game. Despite being outshot 18-8 in the contest, Potsdam (3-1) had several chances to score throughout the game, with senior Cortney Poirier (Moira) and sophomore Heather Johnson (Heuvelton) leading the attack.
"I think we had more chances to score in this game than in the three games we played before, but we didnāt find the back of the net," Potsdam coach Tim Moody said.
Johnson netted the Bears' only goal against Clarkson keeper Stephanie Collins off a pass from Poirier to tie the score in the 38th minute.
Marissa Cook of Chateaugay set up Linde Zajac for the first Clarjson goal, Ariana Czech scored the eventual game-winner and Alix Petitti netted the third tally. Sophomore goalkeeper Kim Callahan finished with eight saves for the Bears.
