Jackets Stay Unbeaten Posting First East Win

MADRID- Madrid-Waddington earned its first win of the NAC East League season, in quality fashion, on Thursday posting a 3-0 shutout over Chateaugay at Dan Rose Field.

"We played very well as a team. Defensively, Ken Johnson, Pat Sharlow, Adam Villnave, and Justin Pierce played solid all game. It was a nice, quality win," said M-W coach Gary Tischler whose team scored three second half goals. to stay unbeaten at 1-0-1 and 2-0-1.

Kody Sharlow opened scoring in the second half from Zach Marcellus in the 46th minute. Quinn Shoen blasted home a shot from 18 yards out in the 62nd minute from Tommy Mallette. Kody Sharlow scored again on a nice one-two combination with Marcellus logging an assist in the 72nd.

Erik Fleury stopped 15 shots for Chateaugay and Alex Brock posted 11 stops for M-W's shutout.

The Yellowjackets will host the Dan Rose Memorial Tournament beginning on Thursday.

Lady Jackets Denied

In Chateaugay, Waddington Girls Soccer team couldn't overcome a 3-0 deficit at halftime to the Bulldogsx

Courtney Boyea connected from Nikki Cooke Paige in the 5th minute and Raquel Fowler generated the next two goals - one unnasisted and one assisted by Cooke-Paige for a 3-0 lead.

Alexis Beach finished Chateaugay's scoring two minutes into the second half from Fowler before Taylor Lenny and Shelby MacIntosh connected for the Jackets. Courtney Ashley assisted on M-W's second goal.

Mayayla Fleury and Shelby Coleman shared the Bulldogs crease with nine saves. Lauren Sharpe tallied six saves for M-W.

GIRLS SOCCER

Canton 2, Harrisville 1: Katie French scored from Hunter Fowler in the 33rd minute for Harrisville but the Bears scored two second half goals for the win. Sam Brown connected from Alicia Jones and Murphy Newman scored from Tressa Goolden in the 76th minute for the gamewinner. Kara Locy stopped seven shots for Canton. Samantha Rounds (eight saves) and Mary LaPlatney (four saves) each allowed a goal making 12 saves combined.
