Turin's Randy Myers has been chosen one of eight umpires in the country to umpire at the Little League World Series next August in Williamsport, Pa.
Myers, a veteran of Little League, high school and college games in the north country, is the first umpire from District 37 to receive the invitation, said district administrator Dan Salmon.
"I'm probably more excited about it than Randy is," Salmon said.
The Little League World Series, which is the ultimate destination for players ages 11-12 each year, utilizes just 16 umpires each tournament. Eight come from the United States and eight from outside the country. Salmon said Myers was one of just two umpires chosen in the entire East Region, which includes 132 districts.
This year's Little League World Series begins on Aug. 18 and runs through Aug. 29.
