Peebles to play football for Campbell University

Dylan Peebles has looked to challenge himself on and off the field during his career at South Lewis Central School.
Now, the Falcons' standout senior running back will get a chance to fulfill a life-long dream of playing Division I football.
Peebles signed a letter of intent to attend Campbell University, a Football Championship Subdivision team, on Thursday after a record-setting career at South Lewis. Peebles also was considering the University of Rochester and St. Lawrence University, both Division III teams, but said he wanted to prove himself at one of the highest levels.
“It's a rebuilding program with a lot of opportunities,'' said Peebles of Campbell, which is a member of the Pioneer Football League. “They are 99 percent sure they want me to play running back, and that was my first choice. The coaches have told me they like the way I play, so I'm really excited.''
Campbell is located in Buies Creek, N.C., a town of around 10,000 people near the South Carolina border. The Fighting Camels finished 3-8 overall, 2-6 in league play, last season in just their third season back after the program was resurrected in 2008.
