The Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY) has announced that it will organize and hold scholastic basketball games for boys and girls this summer to replace the basketball portion of the canceled Empire State Games.
The BCANY Board of Directors is currently working on the location, format and funding for these games. It is anticipated that everything will be finalized at the spring meeting on March 18.
Dave Archer, Executive Director of the BCCANY, said coaches are very anxious to add games for high school players. “With the state canceling the Empire Games and the NYSPHSAA reducing the number of games during the school season, New York players are definitely being short-changed,” Acher said.
