Carthage native Katie Ferris began her Division I lacrosse career by scoring the game-winner in UMass' 13-12 win over No. 18 Boston University on Wednesday.
She scored her goal with just five seconds to play in regulation for the Minutewomen. As a Comet, Ferris helped Carthage to four consecutive Section 10 titles, four state final fours and two state championship games.
She left Carthage as the school's single-season goals record holder with 138. She ended her high school career with 470 goals and 115 assists.
