SYRACUSE — Four north country athletes will be a part of the Upstate team in the upcoming Empower New York State High School Football Classic.
The second annual all-star game matching upstate players against downstate players is scheduled for June 5 in the Carrier Dome. In all, 13 players from Section 3 high schools will be on the upstate roster.
Heading the list of area players participating is Watertown High School’s explosive running back Tevion Cappe. Cappe, who will play at Milford Academy next year, is one of six running backs on the upstate squad.
Devin Tyler, a tight end from General Brown, is also on the upstate roster, as are linemen Alex Tibbles from Indian River and Nick Ten Eyck from Ogdensburg Free Academy. Ten Eyck is the only Section 10 player on the team.
Practices for the game begin Sunday, following a 10 a.m. news conference and player introduction at Henninger High School.
Head coach for the Upstate team is Jack Burger of Troy High School.
