Robert Hasseler, NYS Route 37, Watertown, won two gold medals at the National Senior Games in Houston, on June 25 and 26.
He placed first in the 5-kilometer road race, age 75-79 bracket, with a time of 22 minutes, 50 seconds. Hasseler finished more than two minutes ahead of the second runner.
On the following day he again won the gold in the 10K road race with a time of 50:05. The second place runner was more than seven minutes behind Hasseler.
Hasseler, a retired Watertown High School social studies teacher, qualified for the competition by placing first in the Empire State Games in Cortland in 2010.
