State parks are a very cool spot!
(Ten points to whoever understands that wicked awesome reference.)
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has directed all state parks to stay open later because of the sweltering heat, which has reached into the 100s with humidity.
All of the parks in the Thousand Islands region — including Westcotts, Southwick, Pt. au Roche, Robert Moses and the swimming pool at Keewaydin, will be open until 8 p.m. tonight.
Mr. Cuomo thanked Mrs. Ritchie in a news release. She's been on top of this heat wave, delivering ice cream and cold water to the elderly and reminding people to check up on their neighbors and pets.
"Offering these extended hours will help New Yorkers beat the heat," Mr. Cuomo said in a news release. "I also want to thank Senator Ritchie for her leadership on this issue."
