A great story by the Times-Union's Jimmy Vielkind about the governor's (so far unsuccessful) efforts to encourage dissolution among myriad local governments.
According to Mr. Vielkind, an Oswego County village is the only government entity in the state — out of an estimated 10,521 — to dissolve under a new law that Gov. Andrew Cuomo pushed for when he was attorney general.
Why is something that seems like such a no-brainer so difficult to achieve? (I'm not going to answer it. Read the story!)
Potsdam is in the midst of a dissolution study. It's also being discussed in Chaumont and Waddington.
