Our population-to-scandal ratio right now is through the roof.
Sure, New York City has Pedro Espada. But we've got Glenn LaFave (who still hasn't responded to my stalking him for comment). (PS: for those who consider this an unfair comparison, please redirect yourselves to the "population-to-scandal ratio" line at the beginning.)
Add another name to the list of Inspector General Ellen Biben's targets with connections to the north country: Edward Hawks.
Mr. Hawks, a state inspector at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino, is accused of taking gifts from employees, patrons and vendors. That's a huge conflict of interest.
According to the report, Mr. Hawks has copped to the offense.
And another one bites the dust.
Oh, and a quick post-script: Are there coincidences in life?
Just as Gov. Andrew Cuomo is looking into legalizing non-Indian casinos in the state, this comes down. What luck, eh?
