The following Jefferson County candidates have filed independent nominating petitions — basically, they're going to be on November's ballot on a non-major party line. We saw this with Jack Davis in the 26th District.
Jennie M. Adsit, county legislator.
Stephen H. Lee and Richard F. Young, town of Hounsfield council.
Timothy W. Scee, town of Hounsfield supervisor.
Peter R. Davis, town of Orleans supervisor.
Timothy W. Dupee and Kevin Shampoe, village of Brownville trustees.
Joann L. Zando, village of Deferiet trustee.
Scott Burto, village of West Carthage mayor.
The deadline for filing is today.
The most interesting one here is perhaps Mr. Burto. He's facing Erica Murphy in a Democratic Party primary. So if he loses that, he'll stay in the race.
These are the types of lines that you can just sort of make up your own name for. Jack Davis in Western New York ran one of these; it was a tea party-named line, even though the tea party wasn't the Tea Party (ie., it wasn't an actual party).
This will be updatedwith candidates from St. Lawrence and Lewis counties once I get them.
