A quick morning post (and for those of you wondering why I'm awake at 6 a.m. after a lifetime of not being a morning person, well, let's just say that I'm up late, not up early) that is all about SUNY.
First, we have a top SUNY official writing a letter to SUNY Canton President Joe Kennedy, basically saying, Hey, stop talking smack about this great deal we're offering you or we're going to take it away (insert opposing viewpoint here: it's not a great deal!).
Read the whole thing here.
Oh, and if that's not enough SUNY for your morning, check out this editorial from the WDT. (nb: Other than friendly Hellos in the office, there's a wall of separation between me and the opinion guys.)
The editorial criticizes state Sen. Patty Ritchie, a Republican of Heuvelton, for a bill that she authored that would make each SUNY campus have its own president. The editorial calls this micro-managing.
The edit board is a right-leaning lot (they endorsed Mrs. Ritchie in her eventual win over Darrel Aubertine). But they don't shy away from rebuking similar-minded reps with when they do something they find silly. Looking through the archives, the edit board also chided Mrs. Ritchie (and fellow legislators) for her vote on a bill that would have allowed municipalities to borrow money to cover rising pension costs.
And there's your morning breakfast — SUNY-side up (groans).
