Wanted to bring to your attention this interesting WDT editorial that calls for the end of the death penalty.

As I've pointed out before, the Times' edit board is a conservative lot, but moderately so. The death penalty has come under increased scrutiny with a few high-profile cases. The most recent example was Troy Davis, who many believe was wrongly convicted of killing a police officer in Georgia. Amid worldwide outcry, he was executed in September.
