Politifact: "Ending Medicare" is lie of the year

Politicians, like lawyers and used car salesmen, are known for their dishonesty.
Here's the most pervasively dishonest thing that they said in all of 2011, according to a national fact-checking organization: "Republicans voted to end Medicare."
Politifact has previously rated the Democratic claims "false" or "pants on fire." While they've never rated the claims in relation to the 23rd Congressional District race, the script from Democrats is pretty much identical.
Republican Matt Doheny wasn't in Congress to vote on the so-called "Ryan budget," but the Democratic campaign arm still managed to ding him with it.
“Matt Doheny is staking out a position that is not only out of touch with New York voters, it’s even more extreme than the Tea Party Republicans in the House who almost unanimously voted to end Medicare while protecting tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires,” said a spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in a September missive. “This revelation leaves voters wondering, if ending Medicare isn’t enough of a ‘seismic change’ for Matt Doheny, what is?”
That was in response to Mr. Doheny saying he would vote against the Ryan budget, because it didn't balance the budget quickly enough. For a thorough debunking on the "end Medicare" claim from the Democrats, check out the entirety of the Politifact article above.
To my knowledge, Rep. Bill Owens, the Democrat whom Mr. Doheny will challenge in November 2012, has not committed the "end Medicare" falsehood. He said that it would "cripple" the health care program for seniors.
