The vacancy on the village board in Gouverneur has been filled by a man familiar to north country politicos: Ron McDougall, the Central Trades and Labor Council president.

Mr. McDougall has a long political resume in his own right among folks in the north country.

He's married to former Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava of Gouverneur.
