Funeral services for John F. Mayne, age 77 of County Route 6 Ogdensburg, will be held on Friday (Feb. 3, 2012) at 10:00 am at the Galilee United Methodist Church with Rev. Thomas Nichols officiating. Interment will follow the service at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday (Feb. 2, 2012) from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home, 528 Franklin Street in Ogdensburg. Mr. Mayne died Sunday morning (Jan. 29, 2012) at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Surviving is his wife Beverly; two sons Randy Mayne of Ogdensburg, Scott Mayne of Syracuse; two daughters Cindy Richardson of San Antonio, TX & Becky Hollis of Canton, NY; grandchildren Randy Mayne Jr., Travis Mayne, Kylie Pinkerton, Devin Hollis, Alexis Richardson; ½ brother Victor Childs & his wife Helen of Heuvelton along with many close friends. A sister Eloise Russell predeceased him.

John was born on July 7, 1934 in Ogdensburg, NY, a son of the late Gifford & Floy (Sypes) Mayne. He graduated from Heuvelton High School in 1951 and worked at the Dairylea Cheese plant. He married Beverly Mandigo on December 31, 1956 in Hermon, NY. After the couple’s marriage, they owned and operated the family farm for many years on the Dry Bridge Road. In 1958, he also became employed at GLF, which later was acquired by Agway Products where he worked for the next 34 years as manager of the Ogdensburg store and later in sales. John retired in 1990.

He was a member of the Galilee United Methodist Church, a 20 year member of the Oswegatchie Town Board and served many years on the economic development committee. He also served for a period on the Northwest Tech Board of Education, and enjoyed carpentry, gardening, bowling, golfing and was an avid Boston Red Sox and Syracuse Orangemen fan.
