Waddington man opens insurance agency
WADDINGTON – A LOCAL MAN WITH MORE THAN 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE HAS OPENED HIS OWN INSURANCE AGENCY IN THE VILLAGE.
Wayne Santamont recently resigned from his post as vice president of Dillingham, Jones and Cecil after 32 years of employment.
“I decided in September to open up this office,” he said. “After 32 years I decided to proceed on my own.”
Mr. Santamont said he will offer auto, home, business and life insurance. He said he has connections with a variety of vendors and can offer competitive prices.
Mr. Santamont said cost is important, but he believes the greatest thing he offers at Santamont Insurance Agency is customer service.
“My motto is service after sales,” he said. “I am not just going to sign you up and toss you an 800 number for customer service. I will be available to answer questions personally and help people with whatever problems they run into.”
Mr. Santamont said he will also work hard to meet scheduling needs, which can be tough for people working regular shifts. His regular office hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
“Our office will be open on weekdays, but also by appointment. I am willing to work weekends or make appointments after hours if that is what my customers need,” he said.
Mr. Santamont said he will not likely be hiring additional employees, but still hopes to make an impact on the community by working with the Waddington Chamber of Commerce and helping non-profits.
“We love Waddington. It’s a great place a live. We are already members of the chamber of commerce and plan to be involved with community events,” he said. “But first we have get things going on the business end.”
Mr. Santamont is a veteran and has served as a grand knight in the Waddington Knights of Columbus. He has served as a member of the Waddington Volunteer Fire Department as is also a member of the American Legion.
To celebrate his new business venture, Mr. Santamont plans to host an open house from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 18.
“It’s a tentative date, but that is what we are shooting for,” he said.
