DWI - POTSDAM - Village police charged Jody C. Wenzel, 34, of Potsdam with aggravated driving while intoxicated after they responded to a property damage accident at 10:53 p.m. Friday on Elm Street. Police said Wenzel's vehicle went off the roadway and struck a street sign. He was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and ticketed for failure to keep right on a two-lane road. He reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.24, three times the legal limit. A blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent constitutes a driving while intoxicated count in New York state, and motorists with blood alcohol contents of 0.06 and 0.07 percent are charged with driving while ability impaired.
