Ray Putney
Funeral services for Ray Putney, age 56, of 10815 SH 37, Lisbon, will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Methodist Church in Waddington with Lay Minister, Martha Helmer officiating. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home. Mr. Putney passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center after being stricken at his home.
Mr. Putney is survived by his wife, Sandy; his mother, Alice Putney, Lisbon; two sons, Ray A. Putney, Lisbon and Kenneth L. Putney and his companion, Kassie Cross, Lisbon; three brothers, L. Eric Putney and his companion, Nicole of Hammond, Chris Putney, Tupper Lake, and Bob Miller and his companion, Robin Spies, Black Lake; two sisters, Linda Hoffman and her companion, Brent Langdon, Watertown, and Angela Putney and her companion, Fay Hamlin, Aurora, Colorado; his first grandson to be born in May, Isaac Douglas; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. Big Ray was also survived by his other kids. He was predeceased by his father, Lowell.
Mr. Putney was born on March 11, 1955 in Ogdensburg, the son of Lowell and Alice Kentner. He attended Lisbon Schools and BOCES. He married Sandy Strader on April 17, 1982 at the Protestant Chapel at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center with Rev. Roger Best officiating. He first worked for D. Putney trucking while working for his father at Putney Valley Farm and in 1998 he took over the family farm.
Mr. Putney enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time doing mechanical work. He was also an adult member of the Girl Scouts for over ten years.
