Swan song for the end of an era

For more than 60 years, the Watertown Daily Times has been served by a bureau in Washington, D.C.; first, by Alan Emory, then by Marc Heller.

Marc's last day — and the last day of the Watertown Daily Times' physical presence in the nation's Capitol — was Friday. Here is the swan song:

From Marc Heller.

From former Sen. Pat Moynihan.

From D.C. luminaries, including Army Secretary John McHugh.

The only thing more I have to add to these reflections is this: Marc Heller will be sorely missed, and everyone at the Watertown Daily Times will continue to take seriously our responsibility to inform our readers about the goings-on in Washington, D.C. — even from very far away.
