Patriots’ D’Alessandro state’s player of year

Sackets Harbor’s Zach D’Alessandro has capped off a spectacular senior season by being named the New York State Class D boys’ basketball player of the year by the New York State Sportswriters’ Association.
D’Alessandro averaged 19 points this season while helping lead the Patriots to the Section 3 and state Class D championships.
The 6-foot senior was previously named the Section 3 Class D MVP and the state tournament Class D MVP. He also earned Times first-team All-North honors as the Patriots went 25-0 this season.
D’Alessandro’s teammate, senior Zach Allen, was chosen for the third team in Class D.
Chateaugay senior Mike Boyea joined D’Alessandro on the Class D first team. Hermon DeKalb senior Dylan Amo and senior Kyle Binion from Lisbon are on the second team in Class D.
Matt Kendall of Madrid-Waddington, a senior who helped the Yellow Jackets to the Class D state title game, is on the third team. Making the fifth team was Lyme sophomore Troy Wilson.
Four other Northern New York players were also named to all-state teams.
Watertown senior Dustin Pond made the 13th team in Class AA. Senior Quincell Rahmings from Indian River was chosen for the eighth team in Class A.
Potsdam senior Josh Adams was selected to the sixth team in Class B. And junior Alex Hall from Beaver River made the eighth team in Class C.
