DEXTER An American Eagle flight that departed Watertown International Airport on Sunday made an emergency landing in Syracuse after the plane had a mechanical issue.
The Embraer ERJ-140 developed the mechanical problem shortly after leaving Watertown for the 5 p.m. flight, said spokesman Ed Martelle. The pilot made the decision to land in Syracuse, and an emergency landing was declared because of the extra weight on the plane needed for the trip to Chicago.
The plane landed safely and no injuries were reported. Mechanics at the airport repaired the problem and the plane made the trip to Chicago after a short delay.
