CANTON Jury selection begins today in St. Lawrence County Court for a Canton man charged with three counts of first-degree rape, five counts of first-degree criminal sexual act, third-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree kidnapping and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.
Joshua Lake, 28, of 56 Post Road, is accused of hitting his victim several times with his hand and a belt and of shooting an air gun near her head. While the victim was trying to leave the house, Lake made her leave her car and enter the house, according to police, where he allegedly raped her.
Lake told Judge Jerome J. Richards in March he would stipulate that he had sex with his alleged victim to prevent his case from being delayed for lab reports to come from DNA testing. Lake is being held at the county jail on $30,000 bail, $60,000 bond.
