Kingman, Arizona- Douglas Lester Dusharm, 62, passed away at University Medical Center in Tucson, AZ. on June 7, 2012. He was born August 8, 1949 in Gouverneur, N.Y. Doug was the son of Lester and Elaine Dusharm, a graduate of Hermon-Dekalb Central School, and attended SUNY Oswego. He served in the U.S. Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1971.
Doug farmed on the Pond Rd. in Hermon until 1986, and was known for his high producing dairy cattle. He moved with his family to Kingman, AZ and became a leading Real Estate Agent, founded Old Trails Realty, and retired in 2008. A mountain biking enthusiast, he was instrumental in designing and building new biking trails. Recently, he was nominated by the Bureau of Land Mangement as a nationwide finalist Volunteer of the Year award.
He is survived by his mother Elaine Dusharm and Kingman, his siblings Donna Russell of Dekalb, Duane Dusharm of Philadelpha, NY, and Donita McIntosh of Dannemora; his children Tammy Dusharm, Peter Dusharm, Rhonda Levenda, Celeste Serbin, Elicia Dusharm, and seven grandchildren are all from Arizona.
A memorial service officiated by Rev. William Hart will be held Saturday, June 30th at 12:00 pm at the Dekalb Junction Methodist Church with a reception immediately following.
In lieu of flowers Doug would request that donations in his honor be sent to: Unity for Life Tucson, P.O. Box 89782, Tucson, AZ 85752. This organization assists patients with financial burdens before, during, and after a transplant surgery.
