Rep. Bill Owens will campaign this year with Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, a name very familiar to the residents of Warren, Washington and Saratoga counties.
"We're working on the logistical details, but the short answer is yes," said James Hannaway, Mr. Owens' campaign manager.
Mrs. Gillibrand, the state's junior Democratic senator from Hudson, represented those counties when she was a member of the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2009.
The counties are now part of the district that Mr. Owens, D-Plattsburgh, wants to represent.
Details on the campaign events weren't available Friday.
Mrs. Gillibrand is also up for re-election this year. She's facing Wendy Long, a Manhattan attorney.
She got off to a rocky start in the upper chamber, but she's polling much better these days, with a double-digit lead over Ms. Long.
She was appointed to the position by Gov. David Paterson in 2009, only two months after convincingly winning re-election against Republican Sandy Treadwell. Mrs. Gillibrand did well in Warren and Washington counties, winning with roughly 2-to-1 margins there in 2008. She won by a small margin in Essex County.
Mr. Owens faces Republican Matt Doheny in the Nov. 6 election.
The subject of the campaigning could be ag or veterans issues, a nod to Mrs. Gillibrand and Mr. Owens' joint portfolio in Washington.
