Staten Island recruit Edwards commits to SU
SYRACUSE The Syracuse University football team received a verbal commitment from Tottenville High School running back Augustus Edwards on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Edwards became the eighth player to verbally commit to the Oranges recruiting class of 2013.
Edwards ran for 995 yards and 10 touchdowns last fall at Tottenville, located in Staten Island.
He is the nationally ranked No. 38 running back in the 2013 class by Scouts.com, and No. 50 by Rivals.com. Both sites consider him a three-star recruit.
Edwards joins quarterbacks Zach Allen (Temple, Texas) and Austin Wilson (East Pennsboro, Pa.), linebackers Devan Carter (Rochester) and Marqez Hodge (Miami, Fla.), defensive tackles Wayne Williams (Brooklyn) and Isaiah Johnson (Elkton, Md.), and tight end Tyler Provo (Delray Beach, Fla.) in Syracuses 2013 recruiting class.
