AMSTERDAM — Josh Limbaugh belted a three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the league-leading Amsterdam Mohawks an 8-5 win over the Watertown Wizards in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest at Shuttleworth Park on Thursday.

D.J. Hoagboon went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Amsterdam (25-6). Reliever Connor Kaden pitched two innings to earn the win.

The Mohawks are 7½ games ahead of second-place Mohawk Valley, and are 4-0 against the Wizards (13-18) this year.

Watertown jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings, including Brandon Cipolla’s solo homer, one of his three hits, in the first. The Wizards then strung together three doubles in the second, when also Lowville’s A.J. Capone drove in a run on a squeeze play.

The Wizards continue their seven-game road trip with a doubleheader against the Newark Pilots. Game one is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
