"POTSDAM - State of emergencies declared in both town and village of Potsdam.
Both Deputy Mayor Ronald Tischler and Town Supervisor Marie Regan have declared a state of emergency.
In statements released Tuesday evening Mr. Tischler and Ms. Regan said the state of emergency was declared due to numerous power lines and trees down throughout the village of Potsdam and hazardous conditions that exist due to some structural damage to buildings.
The state of emergency remains in effect for five days or until rescinded.
People are asked to stay away from any downed tree, power-line or building and to report all such hazards to the Potsdam Police Department, they wrote.
