NORFOLK Five St. Lawrence County residents escaped injury in an overnight blaze that destroyed their mobile home and garage.
Officials say the fire began in the garage, but spread quickly to the mobile home, sitting less than ten feet away. Both buildings, located at 1781 Route 420, were a total loss.
The property, owned by Norwood resident Herbie Sweet, was being rented by Melvin Murray and occupied by two adults and three children. The American Red Cross was called for assistance.
Several cats died in the fire, but the family dog was saved, police said.
