MASSENA - A 17-year-old Massena woman was jailed on $100 bail Sunday night after she allegedly pointed a gun, which turned out to be a pellet gun, at a vehicle passing by her on Beach Street.

Village police charged Nicole M. Brothers of 10 Dodge St., Massena, with second-degree menacing. She was arraigned by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and was sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $100 cash or secured bond.

Police said Brothers pointed a .177 calibre pellet pistol toward Erin E. Sheets and Raymond J. Goday when they drove past her on Beach Street near the cemetery. “As I drove by her, I saw her swinging a black pistol by her side like she was proud to be carrying it. As we went by her, she pulled up the gun in front of her and pointed it toward my car and jerked her arm like she was pulling the trigger. I was scared for my life and nervous,” Ms. Sheets noted in her statement.

Police said Brothers was taken into custody in the First Niagara parking lot. They said the pellet gun was a replica of the service revolvers carried by village police officers.
