Michael S. Hill, 32, Watertown, who has spent most of the past nine months in jail for shoplifting, was back in police custody Sunday night, again accused of stealing from a store.

Mr. Hill, whose last known address is listed as 159 Mechanic St., was arrested by Watertown police at 820 Huntington St. on a charge of petit larceny and was detained in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building to await arraignment in City Court. He is accused of stealing a Craig 7-inch Touch Screen Tablet selling at Rite Aid, 842 State St., for $130, according to police documents. He allegedly removed the item from its box late the morning of July 14 before carrying it out of the store, police said.

Mr. Hill has been free on bail since June 6 and has grand jury action pending on a second-degree robbery charge in connection with an alleged shoplifting on May 3 at Kohl’s, outer Arsenal Street, which developed into a physical encounter when a store employee attempted to detain him and a companion.

Last October, Mr. Hill had petit larceny counts lodged in the city, the town of Watertown and the town of Lowville. He pleaded guilty as charged in all three cases and served concurrent jail sentences, which he concluded on Feb. 21.

The city case involved liquor stolen at Arsenal Street Wine & Liquor; while in Lowville, he and an accomplice stole two television sets at Walmart Super Center.

In the town of Watertown case, he was cited in a theft at Target.
