Republican Matt Doheny will attend a protest being held Thursday to highlight comments that President Obama recently made about small businesses.
Maury Thompson at the Glens Falls Post-Star first reported the protest.
Jude Seymour, a spokesman for the congressional candidate, said in an email: "The Havens organized the event and invited Matt. And he is going."
Mr. Obama's comments, at a Virginia campaign stop, raised hackles among some small business owners. Mr. Obama was talking about the role of the federal government in helping support small businesses by building roads and bridges. While Mr. Obama never actually said "You didn't build [your own business]," the general tenor of the comments downplayed the hard work and intelligence that's required of someone who starts a business.
Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, said he hadn't heard the comments.
