In going 17-1 to win the regular season championship of the Ogdensburg Womens Softball Association, the Place II downed Myers Pub twice.
The regular season champions will have to repeat that feat tonight as the leagues playoff tournament concludes at the Champlain Avenue diamond beginning at 6 p.m. The Place II advanced to the finals on Wednesday with a 11-5 victory over Nigs.
Myers Pub advanced to the finals unbeaten from the winners bracket and the Place II needs two wins tonight to prevail from the playback bracket.
The league will hold its awards banquet on Friday night at the VFW beginning at 5 p.m.
Ginnelle Morley anchored a strong defensive performance by the Place II and lined a double and three singles in a winning offense which was led by Rachel Morley who lined a homerun and four singles. Andrea Duvall belted a double and two singles, Chelsea Bice and Jill Havens singled and Taylor Jordan and Katie OConnor each added singles for the winners who pulled away with three runs in the sixth inning and two in the seventh. Debbie Knapp, Austie Claxton, Amy Raven Cheryl Kenyon, Brittanie Kenyon and Belinda Delorenzo all hit safely for Nigs.
