OGDENSBURG — Former City Manager Arthur J. Sciorra filed a notice of claim against the city and Deputy Mayor Michael D. Morley.

The notice of claim, received Thursday, accuses Mr. Morley of defaming Mr. Sciorra in statements made to the Watertown Daily Times in a July 22 story.

Ogdensburg fired Mr. Sciorra without cause in January after council members accused him of incompetence, misconduct and negligence in a preliminary resolution.

Mr. Sciorra could not be reached to comment Thursday. Mr. Morley declined to comment.
