Funeral Services for Mills F. Norton, age 90, of 182 Fulton Rd. in Lisbon, will be held Saturday August 10, 2012 at 10:30AM at Norton Cemetery on RT. 68 in Canton with Tom Nichols officiating. Mr. Norton passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 surrounded by his loving family and Hospice of Northern New York. Arrangements are with Frary Funeral Home.

Mr. Norton is survived by his wife Janice (Lawton) Norton, six children; Mrs. Lawerene (Cynthia) Volpe, of Connecticut, Mrs. Robin Barber of Massena, Mr. Clyde (Lori) Bennet Jr., Ms. Antoinette Bennett of Canton, Mr. Lloyd (Corinna) Bennett Sr. of Lisbon, and Mr. Jeremy (Mary) Lawton of Syracuse; three sisters; Mrs. Margaret (Charles) Alexander of Canton, Mrs. Sally Hansen of South Carolina, and Mrs. Shirley Best of Potsdam. Mr. Norton is also survived by 34 Grandchildren and 25 Great-Grandchildren. Mr. Norton was predeceased by one daughter, Jacqueline (David) Goble; one brother, Charles Norton; four sisters, Lucy Granowitz, Leona Deal, Leonora Morgan, and Muriel Norton.

Mr. Norton graduated from Canton High in 1940. He attended St. Lawrence University for a short time. He owned and operated the family farm until the DEC took it. Then, he bought the Carragher Farm on Route 68. He later sold that and retained a two acre lot on the Fulton Rd. until his death.

Mr. Norton enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially hunting, fishing, gardening, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
