A Watertown man is jailed under $10,000 bail after he allegedly struck another man in the mouth with a large stick, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

Julian V. Miller, 22, of 440 Portage St., was arrested shortly before 2 a.m. Friday by Watertown police for the sheriff’s office on a warrant charging him with second-degree assault. He was sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, with bail set by Ellisburg Town Justice Peter C. Payne, who issued the warrant.

In an incident about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 5 in the town of Ellisburg, Mr. Miller is accused of hitting Jacob Patrick, about 18, in the face with a large stick. Mr. Patrick lost three teeth and was given 22 stitches to close a cut on his lower lip, according to sheriff’s documents.

Mr. Miller was convicted of second-degree assault in August 2011 for hitting another man in the head and arm with a broken bottle. He is serving a five-year sentence of probation for that attack.
